Training

Freya is almost ready to get out of diapers! Ok, that may be jumping the gun a little bit, but she's getting there. We've done the same thing we did with Odin; no pants or diaper when in the house, so she knows what happens when she pees. Now she's getting to the point of being able to know when she's about to, and she'll run to the bathroom. She's peed all over herself while standing at the toilet a few times (trying to mimic Odin), but today she finally sat on her own little potty and did it because she had gone in there to keep Odin company while we went #2. She doesn't like to get underwear wet (she's been insisting on wearing Odin's all the time) so we're going to take her underwear shopping when we get our money to help finish training her (also what we did for Odin).

Alyssa's been preparing to start school on Monday. I'm really excited to see how it turns out, and what her teaching gig is like.

We continue to work with Odin on spelling and reading. He can read a few simple words (some from memory, sure, but some new ones he figures out on his own), and he'll follow along with spelling something if it's not too long and he doesn't have something else to do. He's also taken to playing Super Mario, the first one on the NES. He's not bad at it; he can almost beat the first level.

I've been taking the French lessons with a tutor, but I'm not really enthusiastic about it, so I'm going to stop. We've found a community-ed class for German that I'm going to enroll in instead. I really can't wait for that. I've been a little hard on myself lately for not studying or translating or doing any work, but Alyssa convinced me that I should just take a damned vacation already, so I am.
